Background
Referred by Kasturba Hospital, a 39-year-old woman was suffering from auditory hallucinations, suspiciousness, and an inability to care for her children. She was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, a challenging condition requiring long-term care and management.
Intervention
Our approach involved consistent medication and regular psychiatric treatment. We also facilitated her engagement in productive activities to aid her rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
Outcome
She has seen remarkable improvement; her hallucinations have decreased, and her sleep and appetite have normalized. She is now employed under the MGNREGA scheme, living independently, and managing her family's finances.
Conclusion
Her story is a testament to the fact that with consistent care, individuals with chronic conditions like Schizophrenia can lead fulfilling, independent lives.
